Centaur Travel have immediate vacancies for reliable and motivated Full Time and Casual PCV Drivers to work on our Private Hire and Commuter routes based at our  Crayford and West Kent depots.

This will be a varied work pattern including, days, nights, weekends and bank holidays based on an average 40 hour week (F/T) with potential earnings of over £525 per week.

The successful applicant(s) will be required to work within a 24 hour shift system in line with current legislation, will need to be safety conscious, have an enthusiastic attitude to work, excellent customer service, communication and driving skills as well as a good geographical knowledge.

The successful applicant(s) must possess a UK Category D / PCV licence and ideally have a CPC. (Certain penalty points are permitted, however all driving licences will be vetted by our insurance underwriters).

Responsibilities:
To ensure the smooth and effective running of all Traffic office activities, including the working productivity of all Traffic personnel
Provide hands on day to day management of the Traffic Supervisor team reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
Show leadership and commercial awareness in a fast moving environment.
Be self-motivated and provide motivation to staff in the pursuit of agreed objectives.
Ensure the planning of vehicles is cost effective and all vehicles and drivers are scheduled correctly in line with customer requirements.
Ensure drivers are compliant with Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005 and EU and Domestic Drivers’ hours Regulations, and all vehicles are operated within DVSA regulations.
Provide a can do attitude to customers ensuring that a high level of customer service is delivered at all times including telephone responses times.
Liaise closely with all departments and in particular the vehicle workshop and private hire team ensuring sufficient information is provided between departments and shifts.
Effectively manage all driving and support staff, ensuring adequate cover at all times.

PSV License with DCPC required for this post.

We are currently looking for highly experienced and skilled HGV mechanics for contracts across the UK, on a wide range of vehicles including municipal-type work.

Successful candidates will ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship and have at least five years experience beyond that. Working in a busy environment, applicants will be safety conscious and will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of mechanical knowledge on a variety of vehicles.

Working hours will be approx. 40 per week on either a normal day shift or possible late shift with hourly rates adjusted to suit where applicable.

Must be able to work on wide range of vehicles including; RCV’s, tippers, Terberg, vans etc.

Evidence of formal training essential.

Job Purpose:

Maintain HGV’s and diesel equipment by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.

Duties:

* Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.

* Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades.

* Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as fuel, emission, brake, steering and hydraulics.

* Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

* Comply with legal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

* Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

* Enhance maintenance department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
